Our Mission
Amazing Ministry Outreach is an evidenced Faith Based organization positioned to combat recidivism in Houston, TX. Over 640,000 people return to our communities from prison each year. However, due to the lack of institutional support, statutorily imposed legal barriers, stigmas, and low wages, most prison sentences are for life—especially for residents of Black and Brown communities. Our 9 Month program, network, and resources are leveraged to give recently released individuals “A hand up, not a handout.”
The Vision
More than half of the formerly incarcerated are unable to find stable employment within their first year of return and three-fourths of them are rearrested within three years of release.
Research has demonstrated that health, housing, skill development, mentorship, social networks, and the collaborative efforts of public and private organizations collectively improve the reentry experience. Amazing Ministry Outreach operates within the community with plans of obtaining a building to house individuals for programming.
About AMAZING MINISTRY OUTREACH
Amazing Ministry Outreach is truly a place of restoration and preparation for ex-offenders who have turned to Christ and are being released from incarceration. Some 80% of all men who enter prison are released within four years; most having served time for nonviolent offenses. One of the great failures of our correctional system is the inability of the system to truly reform men so that they do not return to the same social condition and behaviors which led to crime in the first place.
